1999 Tipoff Weekend at EHT
The Cape-Atlantic League against the rest of New Jersey

The second annual Tipoff Weekend was held at Egg Harbor Township High School, where it was also held its first year. This would be the final year the event was scheduled over three days instead of the current two. Here are the results:


FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17
Clearview girls 41, Egg Harbor Township 28
Kate Scherle had 21 points and 10 rebounds to pace Clearview. Marita Rydell had 11 points and eight rebounds for EHT, which made just 19 percent of its shots.
Triton boys 66, Egg Harbor Township 53
Todd Trout had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs, who made 49 percent of their shots and held off an EHT challenge by scoring 30 points in the fourth quarter. Jeff Saitz had 15 points and seven boards for the Eagles.


SATURDAY, DECEMBER 18
Bridgeton girls 70, Rancocas Valley 56
The Bulldogs' Cyndi Wilks was everywhere with 31 points, 18 rebounds and five assists. Keisha Brown added 17 points and 12 boards. Both were back after off-season knee surgery. Natasha Hubbard had 20 points and 10 rebounds for RV.
Sterling girls 64, Holy Spirit 45
Jessica Copskey scored 25 points for the Knights. Kanesha Wright added 12 points and 24 rebounds. Kim Ordille paced the Spartans with 17 points.
Atlantic City boys 80, Neptune 60
Tory Cavalieri had 21 points, including 11 for 11 from the line, along with four steals and nine assists for the Vikings. Brandon White added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Atlantic City, which made 53 percent of its shots. Kyle Blue paced four Neptune double-figure scorers with 14.
Bishop Eustace girls 50, Wildwood Catholic 37
Erica Maurer had 15 points and six steals for Eustace. Alexis Batten paced Wildwood Catholic with 18 points, 12 rebounds and three steals.
St. Augustine Prep boys 76, Rancocas Valley 57
Olu Babalola scored 23 points for the Hermits, who made 60 percent of their shots. Steve Butler, Antwanne Birdsong and Lionel Bohn each scored 13 points for RV. Each team committed 30 turnovers.


SUNDAY, DECEMBER 19
Gloucester Catholic girls 50, Absegami 44
Kris Quinn paced the Rams with 26 points, six rebounds and three steals. Carrie Adams had 11 points and 12 boards for the Braves.
Pemberton boys 63, Ocean City 44
Willis Williams had 19 points for Pemberton with Paul Harper getting 15 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Ryan Reich scored 16 for the Raiders, who also got 11 points and 11 boards from Dave Evans.
Willingboro boys 96, Pleasantville 77
Marquis Gaston scored 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Chimeras. Sterling Duncan got 23 for Pleasantville, Antwan Dozier had 20 and Reggie Kelly added 17 points and 10 rebounds. This game marked a rare meeting between South Jersey's two winningest active coaches at the time - Willingboro's Paul Collins and Ken Leary of Pleasantville.
Middle Township boys 66, Sterling 58
Marcus McNeal scored 34 points for Middle, hitting 13 of 18 shots, while adding nine rebounds and five assists. Ernest Turner had 28 points, nine rebounds and four assists for Sterling.
