Created in 2014 by PRIME EVENTS and William Schoppy Inc. in recognition of Campo's more than three decades of dedication to the student-athletes of the CAL.
The award will be presented to the senior varsity athlete whose academic achievement and dedication to community and service was the most outstanding.
Jayla McNamara of Absegami High School is the 2021 winner
McNamara played soccer, basketball & lacrosse,
was youth basketball camp coach,
part of Absegami's COVID task force,
member of the National Honor Society,
a volunteer at Gilda's Club,
on the principal's Student Leadership Council,
assisted police distribution of food in urban areas,
distributed book bags to children in Atlantic City,
and volunteered at STEAM Nights for elementary students (technology, engineering, art & math).
Normally the Campo Award winner is recognized during the annual CAL Celebration on the Ocean City Music Pier, along with other award winners.
But that event was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic again this year.
